BACKGROUND

Established in 2003, Fully Booked opened its first bookstore branch in Rockwell and has grown to 30 branches nationwide. With over a hundred thousand titles across multiple genres, Fully Booked has captured the loyalty of book lovers of all ages, from Graphic Novels to books on Cookery, Architecture and Design. Known for its comprehensive selection of books under every interest, the Philippine bookstore’s signature ambiance has also become a haven for thought tinkerers and readers alike. The company’s mission is to create a haven for discovery and connection that inspires people to shape their own stories and become better versions of themselves.

BRIEF

Fully Booked had an existing Ecommerce site developed on the Magento 2 platform, but recognized the need to modernize and enhance its online presence by developing a Progressive Web App (PWA) with improved functionality and the latest technology. To achieve this, Fully Booked engaged Kemana to build a new PWA project from scratch, with new user interfaces, features, and a focus on leveraging the Adobe Commerce Cloud.

GOALS

The goal of this project was to enhance the Ecommerce experience for Fully Booked customers by leveraging PWA technology to increase performance and improve the user interface and user experience.

CHALLENGE

  • Large project scope and limited timelines, requiring R&D for certain client requirements.
  • Technical challenges during development, including Magento upgrades, end-of-support issues, and third-party integration failures.
  • Challenges with data migration from the old site to the new site, which involved migrating 30,000 products.

SOLUTIONS

To address the large project scope and limited timelines, the team scoped out the project into two phases and prioritized features for quick delivery.

Kemana launched the project with the latest available Magento version as Adobe provided additional one-year support. Fully Booked planned to upgrade Magento and other technologies in the next phase.

To address the challenge of data migration, the team migrated crucial data such as customers, products, loyalty points, and URLs from the old site to the new site.

CREATING THE EXPERIENCE

To optimize the user experience, features were added such as order splitting, order tracking, social media integration, a customized sales dashboard, optimized invoicing and order management processes. The shipping process was improved with custom labels and bulk uploading of tracking numbers. Other additions were customer group automation, free gifts, product ranking, serial product display, rewards points with reminder emails, and manageable custom notifications. Best practices were implemented throughout the site, from exploring to checkout.

THE RESULTS

Through collaboration with Kemana, Fully Booked was able to achieve its goal of enhancing the Ecommerce experience for its customers. The PWA technology helped to increase performance and improve the user interface and user experience, resulting in increased customer satisfaction and sales.
